Job Title: Postdoctoral positions in computational biology/bioinformatics of cellular networks

Required Skills:
Strong background in molecular biology or biochemistry, bioinformatics, statistics, computer programming.

Job Description:
Post-doctoral positions are immediately available in the group of Dr. Gary Bader at the University of Toronto (http://baderlab.org) to study the organization and evolution of biological systems using computational biology and bioinformatics techniques. We seek to accurately predict links, such as specific molecular interactions, in eukaryotic cell signaling systems using comprehensive genomics data. We are interested to find how these links are rewired by mutations to cause disease. This work is supported through the development of open-source biological pathway and network databases and visualization and analysis software.

Successful applicants should have strong interest and/or experience in:
* Predicting biologically relevant protein interactions
* Cellular network evolution
* Detection of cell type and stage active biological processes using molecular profiles
* Biological pathway and network databases and analysis tools

The Bader group is situated in the newly built Donnelly Centre for Cellular and Biomolecular Research, a major international centre of genomics, proteomics and systems biology research, in the heart of the exciting cosmopolitan city of Toronto.

Bioinformatics Software Developers

Senior Bioinformatics Research Programmer in Integrative Biology

Job Description:
Are you interested in biology and computer science? We are looking for a motivated individual to work on open-source biological pathway and network databases and visualization and analysis software. Interest in applications of graph theory or statistical methods to biology is desirable. This is a good opportunity to learn about the emerging field of bioinformatics and to contribute to important research projects and the development of software applications that are currently in use by an international community of scientists.

Working in a small bioinformatics team, the incumbent will provide software development, data management and analysis services for a large-scale experimental study of yeast genomics involving multiple research groups, integrating yeast genomic information from diverse internal and external sources. The candidate will be responsible for design, implementation, operation and maintenance of data structures, graphical user interfaces, database driven websites, algorithms, reporting and technical documentation. Candidate must be well versed (at least 3 years experience) in programming in Java using open-source programming libraries and databases including database driven websites and graphical user interface (GUI) design in Java Swing and other modern technologies. Good communication skills, the ability to work effectively in a team, thorough understanding of good software engineering practices and experience with group software development are essential. Biology background or interest desirable.

The integrative biology research project is situated in the newly built Donnelly Centre for Cellular and Biomolecular Research, a major international centre of genomics, proteomics and systems biology research, in the heart of the exciting cosmopolitan city of Toronto.

Minimum Qualifications:
Education: Masters or Bachelors degree in computer science or equivalent and/or acceptable combination of education and experience

Skill: Excellent problem solving skills, analytical ability, presentation and communication skills, interpersonal skills, initiative/motivation, organizational, ability to supervise others. Other as required for standard office functions.
