Igor Rodchenkov, Ph.D.
Igor is a senior research associate (UofT staff) and software engineer at the G. Bader Lab, member of the Pathway Commons project, who is also involved in BioPAX and Cytoscape development.
In 1990-1996, he studied Applied Mathematics and Physics at the Moscow Institute of Physics and Technology, Faculty of Molecular and Biological Physics, and got his Ph.D. (using computational biology methods and statistics to predict 3D structure of proteins; supervisors: Tumanyan V.G. and Sunyaev S.R.) from the same University (2000). So, early and keen interest in Science, computers, and programming, finally, led him through the Bioinformatics and Computational Biology to the Gary Bader Lab at UofT, Pathway Commons, BioPAX, and Cytoscape projects.
Igor has been at several research and IT positions, including:
- 1993 - 2001, under/post-graduate, researcher at the Engelhardt Institute of Molecular Biology, RAS;
- 2002 - 2006, bioinformatician at the Samsung Electronics, Advanced Institute of Technology (SAIT), Suwon, South Korea;
- 2007 - 2008, postdoc, Helmholtz Centre for Environmental Health, Institute for Bioinformatics (IBIS, known as MIPS), Munich (Neuherberg), Bayern, Germany.
- 2008 - 2019, Senior Research Associate, Software Engineer here - Bader Lab, Donnelly Centre, UofT.
